Angela Alsobrooks victory remarks

COLLEGE PARK, Md,- Angela Alsobrooks is set to make history as Maryland’s first Black senator.
She won the contest over Republican Former Governor Larry Hogan in the U.S. Senate race.
Alsobrooks who is currently the Prince George’s County Executive garnered almost 52 percent of the vote.
She and Delaware’s Senator-elect Lisa Blunt Rochester will be the first two black women to ever serve together in that chamber.
Alsobrooks delivered remarks last night at the hotel at the University of Maryland celebrating her victory.
Alsobrooks says ” Now, it’s remarkable to think that in two years, America will celebrate its 250th birthday. And in all those years, there have been more than 2000 people who have served in the United States Senate. And only three have looked like me.”
Alsobrooks will replace retiring Democratic U.S. Senator Ben Cardin.
