Worcester County has highest DUI conviction rate in Md.

WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. – Worcester County has the highest conviction rate of DUI cases in Maryland.

The county has continued to have the top spot, according to Maryland State’s Attorney’s Association, since 2019.

In 2023, prosecutors handled nearly 1,000 DUI/DWI cases. The rate finished at 91%.

Worcester County’s State’s Attorney Kris Heiser says they will continue to pursue these kinds of cases relentlessly.

“There are many alternative options, available for people, and it’s preventable and tragic. It causes such devastating results for people, so we’re going to continue to prioritize this for visitors and locals alike, if you come out here, don’t drive around drunk, you’re going to get convicted.”
