“Who doesn’t love ice cream?”: Hebron residents open new ice cream shop
HEBRON, Md. – Two Hebron residents have seen their dreams come to life.
Hebron residents and Triple Scoop owners Brandi Helmer and Kathryn Gross celebrated the ice cream shop’s grand opening on Saturday, after officially opening their doors back on October 10th.
“We’re just two best friends were sitting in my living room, and we had an idea one day, ‘Hey, let’s open up an ice cream shop. Hebron needs one.’ Well, here we are, a few years later, Triple Scoop’s here.”
“The community has come in and supported us, welcomed us. It’s really been truly a blessing how fast we have taken off,” Helmer said.
Their dream sat dormant for years until they found available space when Collector Chaos opened in May. That’s when the work began. “You needed to jump on it as soon as it opened,” Gross said.
The two had a number of hurdles to clear before opening for business. “Trying to get in touch with the health department, getting our plumbing approved, it took quite a bit of time, but you just had to stay on top of them. Once you stay on top of them, they’ll be out here,” said Helmer.
Gross and Helmer feel like they’re finally scratching an itch that Hebron has had for long time. “Who doesn’t love ice cream?…I love making our sundaes, and all the toppings, and the creation and the beautiful mess it looks after they’re done,” Helmer said.
By popular demand, their first flavor of the month, barking pretzel, now has a permanent seat in their freezer. “Hebron residents love their peanut butter,” Helmer joked. “Yes they do,” Gross followed with a smile.
The duo added that their ultimate goal is to get a mobile ice cream truck, so they can bring their ice cream around to different towns and events.
