UPDATE: Sussex Co. crash claims life of one

GEORGETOWN, Del. – A crash in Georgetown Thursday afternoon left one dead, according to Delaware State Police.

At around 2:30 p.m., police say a Peterbilt 567 roll-off container truck was driving westbound on Hardscrabble Road, approaching Landfill Lane. At the same time, a Nissan Sentra was driving eastbound on Hardscrabble Road approaching Landfill Lane. Preliminary investigation revealed that the Peterbilt initiated a left turn for Landfill Lane, into the Sentra’s path, causing a collision.

The driver of the Sentra, a 20-year-old Georgetown man, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Peterbilt, a 30-year-old Seaford man, was not injured.
