Salisbury Airport awarded funding for a new airline
SALISBURY, Md.- Officials in Wicomico County have announced grant funding to support new flight services at the Salisbury Regional Airport.
The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded the county 800,000 dollars to bring a route to Orlando.
The airport currently flys to Charlotte North Carolina, and Philadelphia.
This funding will help support start-up costs, and a marketing plan to attract and sustain the new offering.
President and CEO of the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce Bill Chambers calls this a significant development in our region.
Chambers says “We really think this is exciting news for the region not only for travelers leaving to go to Florida, but we expect there to be travelers that come from Florida to our area especially to take advantage of all the great golf courses we have just east of us in the Ocean City area.”
Chambers tells us while the airline hasn’t confirmed it yet, they believe it is Breeze Airways.
