Quota of Salisbury holds 38th annual Christmas gift and craft show
SALISBURY, Md. – Saturday, Quota of Salisbury held its 38th annual Christmas gift and craft show. The organization supports deaf children as well as disadvantaged children and women in the community. Shoppers had the chance to get into the holiday spirit early at the craft show.
Jennifer McFadden-Rolls said it’s never too early to get in the holiday spirit: “I came as a day to spend time with my mom doing the thing that we most enjoy, which is Christmas shopping together…Everybody enjoys the light and the festivities. And when you light up the front of your yard it brings joy”
Shopper Cody Farr wasn’t the one who came out for holiday items, but there are other crafters and vendors that caught his eye “I like all the woodwork stuff. My wife is more into the Christmas scene, so she likes to look at all the Christmas stuff,” he said.
Cathy Ferraro, Quota of Salisbury President, said there’s something different about being able to find artisans and vendors from all over the Eastern Shore under one roof: “It’s tangible. I don’t know if people like shopping on the internet or not, but, you know, you get to see what you buy and you can hold it and talk to the person maybe who made it and that kind of thing. So I think it’s a little bit more personal, you know?”
As a nonprofit, Quota counts on a big turnout for their annual Show. Ferraro said they got a bump in traffic from people coming out the vote at the Civic Center.
“We know that people are coming out to vote so that was another plus for us. People are coming to the Civic Center for something and we said, ‘Well, if you’re going to vote, come on over and say hello and see what you can find.'”
