Protestors gather at Dover Air Force Base, call for arms embargo on Israel
DOVER, Del. -Protestors gathered at Dover Air Force Base, Saturday, yelling chants and holding signs, demanding an arms embargo on Israel.
They claimed the base has been sending weapons to Israel since the start of the war in October 2023, however, WMDT was not able to confirm that claim.
Regardless of where the weapons are being sent from, protestors like Dounya Ramadan sent strong message to law makers.
“We have told them enough with the weapons packages to Israel, we have said no more weapons transfers time and time again, since October. No one has listened in Delaware,” Ramadan said. “We have made it clear time and time again and when will they listen? When there are no Palestinians left?”
As the 1-year anniversary of the war approaches and the death toll surpasses 40,000 Palestinians, Zumana Noor plans to continue using her voice in the community, to hopefully see some change, and an end to the war in Gaza.
“I remember back in November when I was protesting, I was like, ‘OK, maybe by the end of the year it’s going to be gone.’ Then January started, maybe by the end of January. Every single month I’m just waiting for it to be over, and at the bare minimum for a ceasefire, but as we know a ceasefire isn’t enough, we need to see an end to the weapons shipments going out.”
