Pilot program at Kent Co. Public Library to help foster love for reading, writing

KENT COUNTY, Del. – The Kent County Public Library is engaging little learners with a new workshop.

Next month, kids and their parents will have the opportunity to learn from published authors and illustrators about how to write a story book. The pilot program aims to get kids excited about reading and writing, while including their parents on the creative process.

Librarian, Hilary Welliver, encourages folks in the area to register for this free program.

“[It] gives children an opportunity to work with published authors and illustrators, while their parents meet with a nationally acclaimed speaker who teaches them how to foster creativity in their young talents,” Welliver said. “That’s a really different way of approaching writers’ workshops, and meanwhile they’re having a wonderful time both as adults and as children.”

The workshop will run from 9-11:30AM on Saturday, November 2nd. To register, you can visit the library’s Facebook page @KCPL Library.
