People’s Community Alliance holds one-stop shop with free food distribution
FRUITLAND, Md. – Saturday the People’s Community Alliance held their pop-up one stop shop at Fruitland Primary.
With food provided by the Maryland Food Bank along with other community resources present, volunteers loaded up bags with chicken and fresh fruits and vegetables, distributing to anyone in need with no barriers.
Organizers said that you never know who might be struggling, but these resources are especially important for the elderly.
“I’m in contact with senior citizens every day, and it’s amazing how they can’t decide whether to buy food, get medicine, or turn the electric on, you know, that type of thing. So I always offer, you know, ‘Here we are, the third Saturday of the month,'” said Melanie Donovan with the Salisbury Lions Club.
Donovan added that at their December event at the Wicomico County Stadium they will have winter essentials like gloves, hats, and blankets for distribution as well.
