CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Two men are behind bars on numerous charges stemming from a burglary investigation on Thursday.

Just before 4 p.m., Cambridge Police officers were called to the Cambridge PD Impound Lot for a report of two subjects who had just broken into the secured area and stole two bicycles. Officers canvassed the area and found one subject matching the description pushing a bicycle on the Rails to Trails. As the subject reached the area of the Super Soda on Cedar Street, the officer noticed that the bicycle had a CPD evidence tag attached to it and tried to make contact with the subject, who reportedly fled from officers on foot.

After a brief chase, officers caught the subject in a wooded area between the Rails to Trails and Virginia Avenue. He was identified as 26-year-old Alexander Foote, who was found to have multiple active warrants.

Foote was charged by Cambridge Police with second and fourth degree burglary, two counts of theft $100 to $1500, malicious destruction of property, resisting arrest, failure to obey, CDS possession not cannabis, and CDS possession paraphernalia. Additionally, he was charged in two outstanding warrants:

  • Warrant 1: Kent Count District Court arrest warrant for rogue and vagabond, motor vehicle unlawful taking, unauthorized removal of motor vehicle, and theft $1,500 to under $25,000
  • Warrant 2: Worcester County District Court arrest warrant for motor vehicle unlawful taking, unauthorized removal of a motor vehicle, and theft $1,500 to under $25,000

Foote was held without bond.

At around 4:30 p.m., officers on patrol found the second subject, identified as 23-year-old Jacob Bryant, in the 700 block of Lincoln Terrace, reportedly riding the stolen bicycle. He was arrested and charged with second and fourth degree burglary, malicious destruction of property, and two counts of theft $100 to under $1,500. He was held on a $2,500 bond.
