Milford Museum moving to new location

MILFORD, Del. – Come this winter, the Milford Museum will be setting up shop in a new location.

It’s preparing to move into the former police station, where museum director, Thomas M. Summers, said it can expand its programs and its exhibits.

“This new opportunity and this new building is going to give us that space, it’s also going to give us the storage facilities that we need in order to store a lot of our materials,” Summers said.

The museum will be playing two roles in the community. It’ll help educate the public on Milford’s history and all of the happenings, with the addition of a welcome center.

“A lot of people come here actually thinking about moving to Milford, and they’ll check in and see what’s the town like and things like that, so we’ll be able to serve those people better in a welcome center,” Summers said.

With boxes of artifacts waiting to be put on display, Summers is looking forward to this new opportunity and is hopeful the public will see the benefit in this new change.

“We’re going to be able to do a lot of things that we couldn’t do in this structure, and having that additional space, we’ll be able to spread out some of our exhibits that we weren’t able to do before,” Summers said.
