Marylanders flock to polls for first day of early voting
SALISBURY, Md. – The first day of early voting kicked off at 7AM in Maryland.
Wicomico county election director, Dionne Church, said they expected about 75% of people to show up and take advantage of early voting, and for good reason.
“Early voting gives our voters an opportunity to come in between the hours of 7 and 8 at their option, versus waiting until the traditional election day. It gives them an opportunity to work around their own individual schedules,” Church said.
And officials want you to come out and vote. Church lists out the three different ways folks can handle their civic duty.
“As a voter, you now have 3 different ways to cast your vote. You have the option of doing it by mail, you have the option of doing it in person, which now we have early voting, and you also have the option of doing it on election day, so that makes it very convenient for anyone who would like to cast their vote,” Church said.
Polls will be open until 8PM every day, until Thursday, October 31st.
