MAC Agency is offering to help residents manage diabetes
Free Diabetes Clinic
MARYLAND – Diabetes affects over 10% of Marylanders, and prediabetes affects more than 30%, and one local organization is determined to have a healthier and happier community.
The Mac Center for Aging offers a free 6-week diabetes clinic to help residents who suffer from Types 1 & 2 find ways to manage their illness and get healthy while doing so. Jill Kenney is the Living Well Coordinator Jill Kenney says they are the resource needed to keep people on track, and each individual will need something different.
“What does my blood sugar look like first thing in the morning before I eat or drink anything? 2 hours after I eat that’s when your blood sugar is the highest. What does that look like for me?… So, we offer a lot of coaching, a lot of encouragement, and a lot of mentoring. We help you do the things that the doctor has in the very limited time that they have, instructed you to do.”
The MAC Center says anyone who wants the information to call and when they get enough people signed up, they can create another session. If you or someone you know is interested, call Jill Kenny at 410-742-0505, ext. 159, or visit their website.
