Local organization promotes literacy through immersive event

MILFORD, Del. – A local organization is encouraging literacy in Milford.

The Culture Club PR is bringing books all the way from South Africa and putting them in the hands of eager learners. The books tell the stories of two young South Africans and immerses readers in the culture through live drumming and dancing.

Founder of The Culture Club PR, Neyda Albarran, said this style of learning helps children grasp concepts and retain them.

“Learning through play is one of the most effective ways to learn. The Culture Club has always incorporated learning about culture, experiencing culture and celebrating culture through games, through music, movement of your body, all of those things,” Albarran said.

And through this event, she hopes kids develop a love for reading and pick up more books to add to their libraries.

“Our hope is that they’re excited about reading, start their little library and that we continue to invest and pour out love in this community, which is so dear to our heart,” Albarran said.

The event will kick off at 3 p.m. at Brightway Commons in Milford.
