Lake Forest North Elementary kindergarten teacher honored for October Teacher Who Makes a Difference
FELTON, Del. – Congratulations are in order our October Teacher Who Makes a Difference.
Mrs. Amber Hobbs is a kindergarten teacher from Lake Forest North Elementary. Mrs. Hobbs tells us, she’s been teaching for 21 years and was initially inspired to pursue education because she didn’t have an impactful teacher growing up – so she wanted to be one for others. “Sometimes you don’t get to see it when you’re working with students every day, but to get the kind words that were spoken and to get this nomination really means a lot, it means I’m really doing what I set out to do,” says Hobbs.
Her efforts have led her to be a teacher of the year, and a union representative for the school, and have allowed her to create a tight-knit welcoming environment in her classroom; A classroom where she says students make such significant growth throughout the year that it makes all her hard work worth it. She says, “When I see them as they age up through the grade, we can still have that connection and I care about how they’re doing and I like to see their success.”
Hobbs advises other teachers to work hard to make connections with their students to get the best outcome in the long run.
The Teacher Who Makes A Difference award is brought to you in part by Pam Price and Associates. WMDT surprised the teacher with goodies, flowers, and a certificate.
