Investigation underway into crash that left one dead in Dover
DOVER, Del. – Police are currently investigating an accident that killed a 78-year-old woman Saturday afternoon.
According to police, they were called to South Dupont Highway near Webbs Lane at around 3:45 p.m. for a crash involving three vehicles.
Officers learned that a GMC Sierra was driving down the highway in the right line while a Subaru Outback was stopped at the traffic signal on Webb’s Lane, about to cross the highway. When the light turned green and the Subaru began crossing, the driver of the GMC Sierra allegedly ran the red light, crashing into the driver’s side of the car. The crash then caused both vehicles to slide into the left lane hitting a Nissan.
The driver of the Nissan was treated at Bayhealth Kent Campus. The driver of the Subaru Outback, identified as 78-year-old Pauline Parrott, died at the scene.
Police say alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor at this time.
This is an ongoing investigation, and police ask that anyone with information contact them at 302-736-7130.
