Hebron Volunteer Fire Department announces “community risk reduction day”
HEBRON, Md. – The Hebron Volunteer Fire Department is taking steps to make sure residents are as safe as possible in the event of an emergency.
In partnership with the Office of the State Fire Marshal, fire officials are conducting a “community risk reduction” day within town limits.
Members of the fire department and fire marshal’s office will be going door-to-door, checking smoke alarms and providing free ones to those who need them.
“[With] fall and winter seasons coming up, people will be using heat sources, and the potential is greater during the fall and winter months for some type of malfunction to have a structure fire,” said Deputy Fire Chief David Beach.
Community risk reduction day in Hebron will take place on Saturday October 26th, starting at 9 a.m.
Beach added that anyone outside of town limits who needs a smoke alarm should call the Hebron VFD at 410-749-3037.
