Emerging Leader: Caliana Velasquez

WMDT – It’s Monday and that means it’s time to introduce you to a new emerging leader.

Caliana Velasquez is a senior at Sussex Technical High School choir and was recently named a recipient of the Southern Delaware Chorale Lee Mitchell Scholarship.

This morning, Caliana visited Good Morning Delmarva to talk more about this honor.

She tells us that it was her teacher who suggested she audition for the scholarship and that she was so excited to have been chosen.

Velasquez has been doing choir since middle school and hopes to one day become a music teacher.

She says her love for music started as a hobby, but receiving the scholarship has helped boost her confidence in her abilities and the potential she has to succeed.

Caliana says her teachers are some of her biggest inspirations and she wants to inspire others like them.
