ECI inmate death under investigation by Maryland State Police

WESTOVER, Md. – Maryland State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at the Eastern Correctional Institute in Somerset County.

We’re told on September 21st, the MSP Homicide Unit was contacted by investigators regarding an inmate’s death. It was reported that an inmate, identified as 38-year-old Virgil Robinson, was found unresponsive in his cell at 5:10 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say a person of interest, who is also an inmate, has been identified. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation and autopsy results.
