UPDATE: Early morning crash claims life of Seaford man

GREENWOOD, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that claimed the life of a Seaford man early Wednesday morning.

Shortly before 5 a.m., police say a Kia Sorento was driving eastbound on Shawnee Road, west of Memory Road. Preliminary investigation revealed that the car reportedly failed to negotiate a curve and veered off the side of the road, hitting a telephone box and gas line. The vehicle then re-entered the roadway, veered off the opposite side, and hit a tree.

The driver, a 28-year-old Seaford man, was allegedly not properly restrained and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shawnee Road was closed for roughly three hours following the crash.
