Early morning barricade incident leads to arrest in Dover
DOVER, Del. – Dover Police arrested a man following a barricade incident early Wednesday morning.
At around 1:40 a.m., police reportedly received a call from a victim, who told police that a man, identified as 36-year-old Michael Moran, was inside her residence and was not supposed to be there. It was reported that the victim knows Moran, and that there were six children in the residence at the time of the incident.
Officers responded to the scene in the 100 block of Holmes Street, at which time Moran allegedly came to the door and pointed a firearm at officers before running back into the house and locking the doors. Numerous agencies were called in to assist, including the Tactical Units of the Delaware State Police and Kent County Department of Public Safety. An alert was sent to landlines and mobile devices statewide, asking the public to stay away from the area.
At approximately 11 a.m., police say Moran surrendered and was taken into custody. All six children were found safe and turned over to a family member. No injuries were reported.
A search warrant was obtained and executed at the home, leading to the recovery of two 9mm handguns and 9mm ammunition.
Moran was charged with two counts of aggravated menacing, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, resisting arrest, first degree trespassing, and a capias. He was held at SCI on a $47,000 cash bail.
