Delaware Small Business Development Center awarded $200,000 to help minority-owned businesses
DELAWARE – The Delaware Small Business Development Center has been awarded funds from the US Small Business Administration to support minority and woman-owned businesses in the first state.
SBDC will be getting $200,000 per year for five years through the SBA’s FAST program, using those funds to offer training for aspiring entrepreneurs and business-owners, as well as providing funding for grant-writing and attending conferences.
State Director Mike Bowman said that especially for those in minority communities, SBDC is a great resource to get pointed in the right direction.
“We don’t intend to be the end stage. We don’t have that kind of money, but we could sure help getting early-stage bright entrepreneurs, wherever they come from, a good footing and off on the right foot,” Bowman said.
He added that four of the companies that have come through SBDC have gone public, raising over $1.5 billion and staying in Delaware,
