City of Salisbury accepting submissions for 2025 public art competition

SALISBURY, Md. – The City of Salisbury is now taking applications for its 2025 Prize Public Art Competition.

The city is looking for original free-standing artwork, accepting submissions until December 31st.

Different from last year’s competition, this year there will be a two-round selection process. The top three candidates from the first round will be offered $500 to submit a more in depth proposal.

Officials call the competition a win-win for both the city and local artists.

“Not only does it add more public art downtown, but it also gives our local artists and some of our regional artists, it gives them a way to promote themselves and to really showcase their work,” said Derek Jarmon, Economic Development Director for the City of Salisbury.

The winner of the competition will receive a $10,000 prize, along with a $5,000 stipend for material and equipment costs.

The proposal area is along the Riverwalk, across from the intersection of West Main Street and Lake Street.
