Caroline Co. shed fire claims life of one, investigation underway

DENTON, Md. – An investigation is underway following a shed fire that claimed the life of one Sunday afternoon.

We’re told fire crews were called to 22320 Butler Court just before 2:30 p.m. for a report of a shed fire with injuries. Firefighters were able to control the blaze in roughly 40 minutes, however, a 58-year-old man was reportedly found just outside of the shed. The man unfortunately died from his injuries.

The victim was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

The fire was reported by the occupants of the residence and neighbors. Investigators determined the fire began in the shed, but the cause remains under investigation. The entire shed and its contents were destroyed, with total damage estimated at $15,000.
