Burn ban issued for Assateague Island
BERLIN, Md. – Due to ongoing dry conditions, a burn ban has been issued for all of Assateague Island.
This includes both Assateague State Park and Assateague Island National Seashore. All outdoor burning of wood, paper, and charcoal is prohibited until further notice.
Assateague Island National Seashore officials say fires will be allowed below the high tide line on the Oceanside Beach only. Additionally, camp stoves will be allowed in the campground as long as they don’t burn wood, paper, or charcoal. Fires in fire rings are not allowed.
