Brandywine Valley SPCA waives adoption fees welcoming pets fleeing hurricane areas
GEORGETOWN, Del.- In light of the recent hurricanes that have swept through the south, the Brandywine Valley SPCA has welcomed more than two dozen cats from Florida.
The shelter rescued cats from shelters in Florida who were in the path of Hurricane Milton.
Relocating these homeless pets allows the shelters to focus on emergency response for local family pets that were displaced during the storm.
Now because of an influx of animals, the shelter is now waiving adoption fees.
Sara Smith with the Brandywine Valley SPCA tells us why the shelter decided to waive adoption fees.
Smith says “To be able to make room for animals that need to escape the devastation Brandywine Valley SPCA and all of our affiliates are waiving adoption fees for all large adult dogs and adult cats.”
The shelter will be waiving the adoption fees until October 16th.
