Atlantic General Hospital offering the community free vaccine clinics throughout October

WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. – Atlantic General Hospital is helping the community stay healthy this fall by hosting free flu clinics.

The service is for anyone 13 years and older, and no appointment is needed.

Atlantic General’s Rediscripts Pharmacy Manager Jeff Kukel said this is a preventative measure to keep the community as healthy as possible.

“You know we don’t want people to end up at the doctor’s office, we don’t want people to end up in the emergency room or the urgent care centers, that means something’s already wrong.”

As we get deeper into flu season, AGH wants to continue to keep residents prepared for the common respiratory illness, Population Health Manager for Atlantic General, Alyce Marzola, helps set up the weekly clinics. She said this would provide more opportunities for community members in the county.

“Well, we like to get to each community, so we’ll be in Snow Hill, we’ll be in Pocomoke, we’ll hit in Berlin. Berlin is a dense area, so we’ll hit it a couple of times, we’ll hit Ocean City, so we’ll get all of Worcester County.”

AGH will host the next clinic on October 5th at the Gudelsky Family Medical Center in Ocean Pines, with a few more scheduled later.

The hospital is also providing COVID-19 vaccinations. “Just like flu changes, COVID-19 changes. The best way to protect yourself from COVID-19 and the flu is to get your vaccine. Safe to get them at the same time, before they show up in the community, so we want to kind of think ahead.” Said Kukel.

Community is something Atlantic General takes seriously, and Marzola said putting these series of clinics together was done to serve the community. “Part of the hospital’s premise is we do give back to the community, we are a small community hospital, so we want to go out to our communities, and we want to meet the community where they are.”
