Annual Eastern Shore Out of the Darkness Walk
SALISBURY, Md.- The Wicomico County Health Department is hosting its annual Eastern Shore Out of the Darkness walk on Saturday, October 12th.
The walk raises awareness for mental health and suicide prevention.
The event will take place at Winterplace Park and it is free to the public.
Registration for the walk will begin at 5 pm, and the program will start at 6 pm.
Jessica Taylor with the health department told WMDT why they host the annual walk.
Taylor says ” We want people to know that we’re there for them to support them cause losing someone to suicide or someone who’s struggling with mental health issues we can feel alone and like nobody understands because you can’t see that on the outside.”
Taylor also says “so that people know that they are connected and that there’s a community of support and they can receive that and also love and connection with others”
Money raised from this event will benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
