Wicomico County Public Schools looking into boundary lines for elementary schools

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. –  Wicomico County Public Schools will be holding several public information sessions on a school boundary study.

The goal of the boundary study is to analyze the county’s elementary school attendance, and relieve some overcrowding issues that have been impacting schooling.

WCPS Director of Communications, Paul Butler, said these are only consultations and no final decisions have been made.

“Right now, we have over 700 more students this school year than we did last, so we’re seeing overcrowding so we’re going to do a boundary study to see if we need to make some adjustments to balance the enrollment in the schools.”

The first Public Information session will be Thursday, September 19th starting at 4 p.m. at Wicomico High School, and again at 6 p.m. West Salisbury Elementary.
