Weather Tidbits: Meteorological Fall

This edition of Weather Tidbits will be discussing Meteorological Fall. Meteorological Fall is different from the Autumn Equinox. The former is related to temperature trends, while the latter is related to astronomy. Meteorologists separate the seasons differently by month to make it easier to keep track of weather and climate data for each season. Meteorological Fall begins September 1st and ends November 30th. The Autumn Equinox beings September 22nd and ends December 20th in 2024. These two dates can vary by a couple of days, which would make it challenging to keep climate records for the season. That goes for the other seasons as well. The autumn equinox occurs when the sun illuminates the Northern and Southern Hemisphere equally, shining directly at the equator.
