Vienna celebrates 32nd Annual Native American Festival

VIENNA, Md. – Today in Vienna– residents and visitors came out to celebrate and learn about Native American heritage.

The 32nd annual Native American Festival gave people plenty of reasons to get excited.

With drumming, singing, dancing, traditional storytelling and more, the event hosted by the Nause-Waiwash tribe was the perfect chance for those of First Nations heritage to engage and help teach people about their culture.

“It’s our job as good stewards of our culture to teach the truth, to teach what we believe as accurately as possible so that there [aren’t] misconceptions passed around…We want you to see what we’re really about so that when you walk next to us, it’s with respect,” said CJ Cole, a 3rd generation storyteller.
