SECRETARY, Md – A Secretary tradition is finally back, as it gains momentum after a 22-year hiatus. The next generation Warwick Riverfest and Raft Races returned for its second year since its break.

President of Riverfest, Elizabeth Wielgosz said, this is the type of fun, the community needs. “It’s a great turnout, and it is a fun thing to do in the community before everyone gets out to school.”

One of the originals of the Raft Races, Pat Wielgosz said it’s the new generation that’s carrying the future of the event. “People from the next generation which it’s sponsored by, were saying I remember when our parents had the river fest and raft races in Secretary, I wish we were a part of it.”

This year’s River Fest had a little bit of everything. live bands, vendors, and even water slides for kids. Wielgosz said she thinks tradition is something people in the area look forward to.

“Bringing the community back in town on this Labor Day weekend for a weekend party, have fun on the water, we live on this beautiful piece of water, let’s enjoy it.

Crowds packed the water, cheering on the different teams as they raced across the Warwick River, Pat Wielgosz is pleased that the tradition is back on track.

“Thank you to the town of Secretary for letting us host the event, the civic organizations, and all the food booths, and all the people here, it’s working out fine.”
