The Brightside: We Are Limitless Studios
MARYLAND – An artistic organization is working to make impactful and large-scale public art murals that empower businesses, organizations, municipalities, and the community; We Are Limitless Studios. “From the outside looking in, we’re beautifying the community but I think the reason and how that’s taking place is much more intricate than just that,” says co-founder and CEO, Brandon Bell.
Every intricate stroke of a paintbrush has led to several murals across Wicomico County and beyond, sending a message, telling a story, and adding beauty to the area. We Are Limitless Studios has been at the forefront of large-scale public art since 2019, and they don’t have plans to stop any time soon. “So it’s doing a lot more than just beautifying the place, it’s changing the environment for the better.”
Bell tells us to remain in the community and create more murals, it takes partnership with organizations. You can find their work at the Beach to Bay heritage area (Perdue), Evo, Health Port in Salisbury, Delmarva Veteran Builders, or the newest addition, Breathe Interiors. Bell tells us, “It can tell a story, it can convey a message, but what it ends up doing is turning a space into hopefully a more beautiful space.” He adds, “We want it to be captivating, eye-catching, so as you drive by and walk past it, the first thing that kind of peaks your interest is wow that’s a beautiful piece.”
The unique part about We Are Limitless Studios, is the community involvement to make these murals happen. We’ve all heard the saying a picture is worth a thousand words, but sometimes it also takes a thousand paintbrushes to paint that one picture. “We would not be here remotely without the support of everybody involved which is the general population that exists in these communities and is putting this art in,” says Bell. “Now we’re fostering an environment where we have local artists, bring them on the team, teach them how to do stuff like this because we’re in a unique position where there’s only so many of these opportunities for people like us to be able to go and paint.”
Through their work, they’ve been able to incorporate dozens of community members and artists to paint these large-scale murals. Bell says as an artist, finding a place to let your creativity flourish can be difficult, and they’re hoping they can be a space to do just that for the betterment of the community. “I feel it’s a responsibility to be able to present this opportunity to more and more local artists so they can hopefully take what they learned from us and be able to transform the environment in their way.”
Creating a beautiful environment, we’re told takes support from the cities like Salisbury, that’s opened its doors to allow art to take over in the best way possible. “To be in a position that we are now to be able to paint these large scale things, people are taking it more and more seriously as the day goes on,” says Bell.
For their work to continue, Bell says getting their message into the minds of our youth is essential; As they’re hoping to work with more schools to present artistic opportunities to them to carry on their mission for years to come. “Part of our big global vision, we’ve had it since day one at we are limitless studios, we are going to incorporate as many people as possible.” He adds, “Let them know they were here, we’re not just trying to do the artwork ourselves, we would love the support and some of the students to help us do this stuff.”
Bell says they are hoping to explore their reach more and more into local schools to help those who don’t have a budget for arts, and for students who are interested in getting involved.
