Rosenfeld’s Jewish Deli has closed its Ocean City location and will be moving to Salisbury in October

SALISBURY, Md – Rosenfeld’s Jewish Deli, time operating in Ocean City is over. The company will be moving to Salisbury next month.

The popular local establishment has served the Ocean City community for over 11 years. Warren Rosenfeld, the owner of the shop said this isn’t a day of gloom, but a day to celebrate.

“That’s what makes this a happy celebration, you know we’re not going out of business, we’re just leaving this location, but we’re opening another location in 30 days, so you know the addition and subtraction is the same, it’s just one of the locations instead of ocean city is going to be in Salisbury.”

Long-time customer Eileen Pederson said she doesn’t know how to feel about the change.

“I’m feeling mixed emotions because while I knew, last year they were going to be closing, and I knew the effort to get them the landlord to extend the lease, which he did or she did, I did not realize until two days ago that today was there last day.”

The deli is known for its fresh sandwiches and bagels, they also take pride in not serving pork or shellfish. This makes them a great option for people of all cultures. Rosenfield thinks the move makes sense.

“I’m looking for locations where we can have a true year-round business and I think Salisbury fits that bill, and I think maybe we go to Easton, maybe we go to Milford, and maybe we do something else.”

Rosenfeld will always hold the memories of the Ocean City location highly, but he strives to continue to touch the lives of his customers. “All those people have told me, I reminded them of their grandmother long gone, or their mother long gone, and the food here reminds them of the food they had with their loved ones, and when someone tells you that then mission accomplished.”

The store will open up in Salisbury in late October at 923 Mount Hermon Road. They will host a job fair at the new location on October 1st at 5:30 p.m.
