Motorcycle crash claims life of Pennsylvania man in Worcester Co.
WHALEYVILLE, Md. – Maryland State Police are investigating a motorcycle crash that claimed the life of a Pennsylvania man in Worcester County Saturday evening.
According to police, the crash happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. in the area of westbound Route 50 and Hall Road. Troopers say the crash involved two motorcycles, and preliminary investigation revealed that a BMW motorcycle, driven by a Pennsylvania man, was passing a vehicle on Route 50 when, for unknown reasons, lost control and hit a guardrail. This then reportedly caused another BMW motorcycle traveling with the victim to lose control.
The victim was identified as 40-year-old Jason Irizarry of Dover, Pennsylvania. He was taken by ambulance to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional and later transferred to ChristianaCare Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the motorcycle involved in the crash has been identified as 49-year-old Andrew Strube of Columbia, Pennsylvania. He was taken by ambulance to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional for treatment of his injuries.
All lanes on Route 50 were closed for approximately four hours following the crash.
