Local outreach group helps homeless individuals obtain State ID

SALISBURY, Md. – Staff from Help and Outreach Point of Entry, or HOPE Inc., are helping bridge the gap between access and security, helping those in Salisbury’s homeless population get their hands on a State ID, free of charge.

Executive director of HOPE Inc., Debra Rossi, said it’s an initiative that helps get individuals one step closer to stability.

“If you want to set people on the path to the right direction with housing stability, we have to start at step 1, which is at least making sure that they have those vital documents,” Rossi said.

Kevin Beebe hasn’t had an ID for 8 months. He said through the HOPE Inc. program, he’s able to get back up on his feet and secure that stable job.

“When it comes to getting a job, you have to have an ID to get anywhere in life,” Beebe said. “I can get my life back together and start moving up, instead of staying in a standstill and a stall.”
