Local business holds diaper drive to help community

Chic on the Beach

Rehoboth Beach, De. – One local business is aiming to help the babies on the beach. In Rehoboth, Chic on the Beach is hosting its first annual Diaper Drive to support local families in need.

For the entire month of September, Chic on the Beach is allowing residents to drop off or send diapers of all sizes. Karen Falk is the marketing manager for the business and says they were glad to have the opportunity to provide quality diapers for those who maybe can’t afford them right now.

She says that so far, they’ve already received over 100 boxes and expect many more. “We’re really excited to get this out into the community, it’s really easy, when people are coming by just to pull right in, give us a call or beep the horn we’ll come out and grab the diapers from you. Our idea is to pretty much impact the community here, but we also hope that we can overflow into the other resource centers throughout the state.”

Owner and operator of Chic by the Beach is Ellen Didion. They also host a “Moms and Mimosas” where they reach out to women in the community and try to give them a chance to unwind. Didion says due to the economy, many families are struggling to get their basic needs met. She says this is a way her establishment can take part in doing something good.

“The Harry K Foundation and the Community Resource Center had a huge need for diapers, and I thought, we could make a difference… Drop off the diapers if you can’t make it in, just send some diapers in.” Didion goes on to stay that no matter what it is, they’ll take it. “It doesn’t have to be a big case, it can be a little pack, anything is welcomed, anything is welcomed, and everybody can spare just a little extra.”

They say they will be taking donations for the entire month of September from 11am to 5pm at her location. If you are in need of diapers or other materials, reach out to the community resource center in Rehoboth, and she says remember to ‘Stay Chic!’
