IRSD prepares to host first ever ‘We Are IRSD’ community festival

SUSSEX COUNTY – The Indian River School District is getting ready to host its first ever ‘We Are IRSD’ community festival.

The free event will feature food, games, and family-friendly activities.

More than 40 community organizations will be there to give parents and students all kinds of information and resources they might need.

There will be a number of performances from different bands and groups, as well as interactive displays from every school within the district.

“We wanted to create an event that would welcome all of our our students and their families, community partners, local businesses together to celebrate all that. We have Indian River School District and to showcase the relationships that we have developed across the years,” said Nika Reid, Supervisor of Support services for Indian River School District.

Reid added, “This day was actually developed out of our Equity Steering Committee, which is a committee of educators from across the district that believe in being able to give valuable resources to our educators as it relates to being culturally responsive across all grade levels, kindergarten through 12th grade.”

The festival will take place on October 5th from 10am to 2pm at Sussex Central High.
