Good Morning Delmarva features Oddball, a Green-Winged Macaw
SALISBURY, Md. – Once a month, GMD features an animal from the Salisbury Zoo.
For September, we’re meeting Oddball, the Green-winged Macaw that lives in the Flamingo exhibit at the zoo. Hannah Buchek, an Animal Care Tech at the zoo tells us this guy is incredibly intelligent and definitely likes to show off.
We’re told the biggest threats to these types of parrots are deforestation and illegal animal trading. While people can have parrots as pets, there’s a legal route you can take. However, Buchek says parrots are hard to keep as pets because they live so long so it’s likely they’ll outlive you.
To learn more about Oddball or other animals the Salisbury Zoo has to offer, you can visit their website, or visit the zoo in person.
They’re open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily and offer free admission and parking.
