Georgetown PD honors Chad Spicer after 15 years
GEORGETOWN, Del. – Sunday the Georgetown Police Department held a wreath-laying ceremony honoring the memory of a fallen officer.
It was 15 years ago Sunday when Chad Spicer lost his life in the line of duty, serving the community as part of the Georgetown Police Department.
Chief Ralph Holm said the department has formed a special bond with Spicer’s family, and this annual ceremony held at the Georgetown circle serves as a an important reminder.
“We have officers that have contact with them, daily. And so it’s just a reminder, though, for everybody else. ‘Hey, this was our friend. This was our coworker. This was somebody who loved to serve this community,’ and he shouldn’t be forgotten,” said Georgetown Police Chief Ralph Holm.
Sadly, Spicer’s physical monument located in the Georgetown circle was recently destroyed by a drunk driver.
It’s yet to be decided whether it will be replaced in the same location or moved to somewhere different.
