Fruitland Volunteer Fire Company holding crab feast fundraiser
FRUITLAND, Md. – The Fruitland Volunteer Fire Company is looking for community support at its upcoming crab feast fundraiser.
The event will of course feature crabs, but also other food and drinks, music, and raffles.
This is the first time the fire company has ever put on a crab feast, and they said they depend on fundraising for up to 25% of their annual budget.
Beyond just funding, it’s a great opportunity to get to know the people they’re serving: “Fruitland is a tight knit community and we want to know who we’re serving and we want the community to know who the people serving them are. And fundraising is a great way to get to know each other. There’s a lot of opportunity for conversation over food and festivity, so it’s a really nice time and an informal event, unlike in an emergency,” said Jason Press, Second Assistant Chief at the Fruitland Volunteer Fire Company.
The crab feast will take place September 28th at 1pm, at Redman’s Lodge in Fruitland.
The fire company also holds luncheon fundraisers on the second Friday of every month during the winter.
