Food Lion has partnered with 38 food pantries for its 10th annual Great Pantry Makeover
DELMAR, Del. – For Hunger Action Month, Food Lion has partnered with local food pantries in Delaware. The effort combines associates, volunteers, and Food Lion reps who spend time remodeling and cleaning pantries. They install new equipment and equip the pantry with over 3,000 lbs. of food.
Harvest Ministries in Delmar Delaware was the site for the renovations, shelves will be stocked with canned beans, produce, and meats.
Food Lion’s Regional support specialist Tonya Zucchero said the makeover is done to give back to the community.
“And that is what it takes in the community, to have a partnership, we’re here for them, and they are here for us, but the real initiative and the real focus is our local communities, our customers give back to us every day, and we want to make sure we give back to them in any way.”
Harvest Ministries is still in the process of getting the shop done, but on Tuesday, they hope to have everything completed and ready to help people in need.
