WMDT – It’s Monday and that means it’s time to introduce you to a new emerging leader.

Angelle Ayres is a Stephen Decatur high school student that was recently named a finalist for the Quanta Service Junior Varsity Rodeo Team.

This morning, Ayres and her trainer Jessica Flores Johnston stopped by to discuss this big accomplishment.

Angelle tells us that she started riding at just 3 years old!

She has always had a fondest for horses since she had the opportunity to watch her mother rode at such a young age, but her love for rodeo developed over time.

Through an internship at Rusted Star Ranch which is owned by her trainer, helped prepare her for this big opportunity.

Johnston says that she encourages her riders to not be afraid to go after their dreams and work hard to achieve them.

As a member, she will be provided resources, financial aid, and tool to help her succeed outside of the team.

Outside of being a member of the rodeo team, Angelle also is a part of the agriculture program at Worcester Technical High School. She says that she wants to become a veterinarian in the future.
