Easton Police officer convicted of misconduct in office
EASTON, Md. – An Easton Police officer has been convicted of two counts of misconduct in office.
Sergeant Jason Dyott was convicted of two separate instances of engaging in physical sexual conduct with two teenage girls while on duty as an Easton Police officer. It was determined that on November 11, 2022, Dyott was on duty when he reportedly picked up one of the teenage victims from a residence and engaged in sexual intercourse with her inside his patrol vehicle. Additionally, it was found that two days later, on November 13, 2022, Sergeant Dyott engaged in sexual conduct in his patrol vehicle with a second teenage victim while on duty.
Dyott was charged back in April. Sentencing is scheduled for November 1st.
Easton Police Chief Alan Lowrey released the following statement regarding the conviction:
The Easton Police Department is thankful for the diligence and professionalism of the Office of the State Prosecutor during the investigation and criminal prosecution of Mr. Dyott. We are grateful for the careful consideration the court gave to deciding this case and finding that Mr. Dyott’s actions constituted misconduct in office. To protect the integrity of this criminal prosecution and the wellbeing of the victims, the Easton Police Department had placed its imposition of administrative penalties on hold. Upon this conviction, the Easton Police Department will now seek to impose the appropriate administrative penalties upon Mr. Dyott.”
