Early morning fire destroys Frederica home, investigation underway

FREDERICA, Del. – Delaware State Fire Marshals are investigating an early morning house fire in Frederica.

At around 5:45 a.m., firefighters were called to the 100 block of Front Street. The Frederica Volunteer Fire Company and several mutual aid fire companies responded to extinguish the fire.

Officials say the home was occupied at the time, but all occupants were able to escape uninjured. Unfortunately, a family dog did not make it out of the home.

The home was heavily damaged, and two other nearby residences sustained damage. The family is currently being assisted by the American Red Cross.
