Dorchester County moving forward with new EMS equipment

DORCHESTER COUNTY, Md – Public safety is at the forefront in Dorchester County, as county leadership is looking to improve emergency vehicles.

This new software will help ensure the safety of EMS personnel and patients, Dorchester County Council President Lenny Pfeffer, said he was extremely excited for the county.

“The next software system that we are getting for EMS systems will include cameras and other telematics devices that will be able to help us to monitor the actual vehicle itself as well as the safe driving of that vehicle.”

New video and tracking systems for their vehicles, will make public safety more effective and efficient. Pfeffer is hoping to use this as a training opportunity,
“To make sure that our drivers are driving safely which will help lower our risks involved with any kind of accident also it’ll make sure we are providing the safest transportation possible for the patients we are carrying in the back.”

EMS officials can even check to see if the vehicle needs extra maintenance, and Pfeffer is excited for what’s to come in the county.

“I think the system in the long run will create better drivers of our equipment and an overall better safety profile for our EMS division, keeping our providers and citizens and patients that they are treating in the long run.”

The money from the 2025 county budget, will help fund the project.
