DelDOT sounding the alarm on roadway deaths

DELAWARE – DelDOT is sounding the alarm about roadway deaths with its hero toward zero initiative. This year there have been 87 fatalities on First State roads.

In 2023, The DelDOT Leadership Academy was tasked with creating a new safety awareness campaign to connect with the public after 2022 saw a near-record number of fatalities on Delaware roads. The result of this effort by this group of DelDOT employees is the Be DelAWARE campaign.

DelDOT officials say safety should be everyone’s priority, and by being DelAWARE we can ensure lives are not tragically lost on our roads.

DelDOT is reminding drivers to always practice safe driving behaviors like driving sober, staying alert, sharing the road, and moving over for stopped or disabled vehicles. Pedestrians are also reminded to walk smart.
