Delaware State University announces two arrests in connection to September 7th shooting

DOVER, Del. – Delaware State University has arrested one student and one dover resident in connection to a shooting that occurred in the University Courtyards on September 7th, 2024. The investigation took place September 7th around 10:32 pm, when police were dispatched to the apartments about a report of a shooting that occurred.

When officers arrived on scene they found that several vehicles and buildings had been shot at. No one was injured during the incident. After thoroughly investigating police identified 18-year-old Tyrone Harrel and a 15-year-old male were responsible for the shooting.  Harrell was a registered student at Delaware State University and the 15-year-old has no connection to the university.

On September 9th, Harrel was arrested without incident and committed to SCI on a $200,000 cash bail and the 15-year-old was taken into custody on a $226,150 cash bail. Both were charged with a slew of felony charges.
