Community Beach clean-up happening in Ocean City
Beach Clean- Up
Ocean City, Md. – Beach Season is finally slowing down, and the Ocean City Surf Club is gearing up for its community beach clean-up this month.
President of the club Tommy Vach, says they regularly give back to the community through scholarships, charity, mentoring, and community service, just to name a few. Over the past 10 years, they’ve Adopted a Beach to clean 4 times a year. Each time they have over 100 volunteers that come out and support their efforts.
Vach says this way the beach can be pleasant for everyone. “We have thousands and thousands of visitors as everybody knows each year coming to our community and um, not everybody actually gets it, that you have to pick up your trash on the way off the beach and you don’t litter… If we get out there and put the sand soldiers as we call them on the beach picking up trash, that really helps.”
The Community Beach Clean-up will take place in Ocean City on Tuesday Sept. 17th from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. Volunteers should meet on 94th Street near the Roses Parking Lot. They say they will provide gloves and bags for volunteers, just come ready to clean!
