BERLIN, Md. – A late night chase Wednesday led to the arrest of a Berlin man.

Just after midnight, officers say they saw a vehicle in the area of Route 50 and Route 346 that appeared to be driving above the posted speed limit. After obtaining a speed reading of 120 mph, officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver disregarded the attempted stop and led police on a chase. The car allegedly committed numerous traffic violations throughout the Town of Berlin and into Worcester County before running off the road in the area of Ironshire Station Road and Libertytown Road.

The driver fled on foot after crashing, but was found in a nearby wooded area a short time later and identified as Frederick Strobel III. He was charged with multiple firearms and CDS violations, resisting arrest, and numerous traffic violations.

Strobel is being held at the Worcester County Detention Center without bond.
